I believe many life struggles are due to our attempts to adapt in ways that don’t seem to work. Emotional distress is often caused by factors outside our awareness. These factors limit the range of possible ways to live successful lives. We try to help ourselves by using various creative strategies and sometimes discover we can succeed only with the assistance of someone who knows how to help. A close relationship with a skilled professional sensitive to and who understands human challenges is crucial to discovering new ways of being and relating. I collaborate closely in relationship with clients to help transform their lives.
Along with the specialties and issues that are identified in this profile, I have experience with and interest in working with performing artists, particularly singers and musicians.
In addition to helping people grow in the context of psychotherapy, I also teach graduate students in psychology to become skilled professional helpers. I believe that teaching what I do and doing what I teach ensures that my helping skills are as sharp as possible!
